Types of Therapy

The Meadows Outpatient Center is a 12-step oriented program and subscribes to the model of total abstinence for all patients, meaning no addictive substances while participating in our programming, whether or not a patient acknowledges having a substance use disorder. Our treatment approach entails group therapy four days per week, three hours per day, for eight weeks. In addition, the outpatient center offers individual therapy with our Master’s level and licensed clinicians, and may consist of a combination of therapeutic modalities, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Somatic Experiencing® (SE)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Acupuncture

Neurofeedback is also available at the outpatient center as an add-on service. Included in the program’s group process are:

  • Dedicated meditation room
  • Brain Spa
  • Trauma Sensitive Yoga
  • Art therapy
  • Relapse Prevention

Our Meadows psychiatrist is available on-site for weekly medication management, psychiatric evaluations (if needed), and program oversight. All medications must be approved by our staff psychiatrist.

Treatment at The Meadows Outpatient Center is covered by many insurance plans. However, insurance policies and benefits vary greatly and our highly trained staff will work hard to obtain the maximum benefit allowed by a patient’s company or carrier.

Family Involvement

The Meadows IOP family program encourages the patient’s family members and significant others to become involved in the treatment process and active in self-help support groups to reinforce healthy, non-enabling interaction with patients, and continue their own program of recovery. Our family program offers:

Multifamily Group - This group focuses on family issues and effective communication skills. Family members are encouraged to attend this weekly session with the IOP patient during their treatment. Local families are encouraged to attend weekly sessions while out-of-state family members can join remotely.

Family Recovery Group - This separate group is facilitated by a Meadows trained family therapist and meets weekly for 90 minutes. All family members are invited to attend but does not include the IOP patient. The goal is to help family members learn how to be helpful in a non-enabling way and how to switch the focus from the IOP patient to their personal recovery.

Specialty Group Treatment

Patients with sexual addiction issues require specially trained clinicians who understand the unique needs and challenges of these individuals. To start or continue the recovery journey, we offer the Gentle Path IOP for both men and women suffering from sexual addiction. The eight-to-twelve-week group offers the same benefits as the customary IOP program but is facilitated by a CSAT trained therapist using Dr. Patrick Carnes’ 30 Task Model.

Transitional Living

Convenient transitional living is accessible through local referrals with top-quality properties and available to local patients, as well as those from out of state. These providers offer patients transportation, security, strong programming, fellowship, and numerous recreational activities designed to make the entire process seamless, comfortable, and fun.
